I even decided to paint over the hinges with some gold paint I had around - they were covered in several layers of white paint anyway. If you're going to paint hinges just be sure to give the door a full motion swing immediately after you paint, and even a few times while it is drying to ensure the hinges will continue to work smoothly.
I also decided to switch out that terrible, builder-basic brushed steel doorknob for a simple brass doorknob. Looks great next to the brass faceplate solution I applied to the light switch a while back.
An update: The lamps are in! $15 black drum shades take it NEXT LEV. The thrifted armchair has found its place. The curtains (of questionable colour) are still installed...but at least they conceal that horrible half-assed shelf thing. My vintage IKEA Gilbert chairs have made it into the mix! Accessories are creeping in! All in all, things are getting classier around here. It's about time. I now have to reposition the art as things were moved left to make it all fit, but considering the pace at which I'm completing most things these days who knows when that will transpire. I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of some new pieces in here over which you will just DIE OF JEALOUSY, but that is all I will say for now. Tease!
Just a bit of eye candy. Creative Flats, lofts designed to absolute perfection for rent in Montreal. This is one of them. Check out the other ones. Très chic. By total babes Nathalie Bouchard and Annie Horth. Peace.
